Double entendres aside, it's a great computer. I'm using it as a desktop replacement. I mainly run Office and stream videos, as well as do some occasional Photoshop work, but it can handle it all, for an entire 12 hour workday. Windows 8 was a bit of a learning curve, but I'm getting it. I can't speak to the touchiness of the track-pad or keyboard, as I bought this with a wireless mouse and keyboard from Logitech. I'm a hard typer and I need something that can take a beating. I doubt this keyboard and trackpad could, so keep that in mind if you're a bit rough with your equipment like me. God knows I like it rough. ;)
All in all, I've very happy with this purchase, especially for the price.
Of course, should this thing piss out on me, I'll be back faster than an angry ex can say "palimony payments" to update this review, but for now, I've had a very happy ending.
First thing I noticed is the old non-SSD HD is constantly being accessed and it brings everything to a standstill. So I turned off indexing and made every tweak I could to get it up to speed. I gave up on Windows 10.
I installed Linux Mint via SSD card and nd got MUCH improved performance. It worked so well that I could easy watch video on the laptop. I wanted to swap out the HD and install Linux on it or an older version of Windows, but it's a real pain getting to the HD. Basically have to remove the keyboard to actually get to the HD it's a good while to do this.
Either way it was not worth the $333 I paid for it back in 2016. I guess you live and learn. I would recommend getting a used i5 HP laptop from E-Bay or somewhere. Maybe spend a bit more, but Dell really dropped the ball on this one.
*So I guess my only negative is the sensitive space bar.
I love the computer, Don't like windows 10 so much but maybe its just because its new to me.
So for making documents and using it for personal and also home business work I like it very much.
As for the performance of the operating system itself, it is decent and gets the job done. As military personnel I have had some issues with IE and accessing AKO sites because IE freezes up and shuts down, which has been the most frustrating issue in and of itself, however, once I got Firefox it all ran smoothly. I plan on uninstalling some of the bloatware dell offers on their computers, but even before doing so this computer runs just fine and gets the job done. I would recommend it for someone who wants to access the internet, check email, write documents and just perform the typical computer tasks with. I have had my moments of where the computer may seem to freeze up when in all actuality it is just taking longer than I would prefer it to in order to accomplish whatever task I have told it to do, but it is nothing that is such a problem I could not live with it or that I would return this at all.
