Whats Happening and why is my phone only Charging when connected to the PC?

The main reason why your phone is only charging when you connect it the PC and not showing up for data transfer is the USB cable. Not all USB cables are made equal and some are only meant for charging and not data transfer. Those for charging only do not have the capabilities for data transfer.

So seeing that the issue is caused by the USB cable as explained above the way to fix it is to replace the current USB cable you are using with a new one that supports both charging and data transfer. You want to also avoid some of those flimsy aftermarket USB cables and go for a really genuine one. So find a spear you have around the house or borrow one from a friend.

If you don’t have a spear around the house then you can buy one as shown below and you should be good.
